How to Export an Outlook Express Address Book to a Flash Drive Exporting your Outlook Express address book and saving it on a USB flash drive is a simple way of protecting this important information you've built up. Carrying around the address book on a thumb drive also makes it easy to import the address book into another installation of Outlook Express, such as on your work computer. Outlook Express includes a handy export option that can not only be read by Outlook but can also be opened within Microsoft Excel.
Instructions
1 Open Outlook Express.
2 Select "File" > "Export" > "Address Book..." from the menu.
3.Select "Text File (Comma Separated Values)." Select "Export."
4 Name the exported address book file. Select "Next."
5 Select all the address book fields you'd like to include in the exported file. Select "Finish." Select "Close."
6 Insert the USB flash drive into your computer.
7 Navigate to the .CSV file you named in Step 4. Drag the .CSV file into the USB flash drive. It will only take a minute to copy the file over. Once complete, eject the drive by right-clicking the drive's icon and selecting "Eject." You can then safely remove the drive from your computer.
Tips & Warnings You can use the CSV file to transport your address book file to another computer and import it into another copy of Outlook.
